About Purple Tick
Purple Tick provides guidelines for businesses to improve their service to women. It is an initiative of the Chamber of Women in Business.
What is Purple Tick?
Purple Tick is a symbol that represents businesses that provide services that would be recommended by women. Read our media releases.
Purple Tick was started by the Chamber of Women in Business (CWB) in 2008. Women realised that even in the 21st century, despite the progress made by the feminist movement, women still experience less-than-ideal service.

Our Research - What Women Want
In 2008 the CWB conducted research with women of all ages and backgrounds to find what women really want in service.
Our research showed that:
- Women want to be acknowledged and treated with honesty, patience and respect
- Women also desire clean, comfortable places to shop and to be given the information they need to make the right purchasing decisions.
- 64% of women can recall having had a bad shopping experience because they were a woman. Things such as: being patronised, called 'love' or 'sweetie', being made to feel stupid, being told 'women don't know about... (cars/technology etc.)', being ignored and talked down to.
- 74% of women shy away from businesses they view as being unsupportive.
- 77% of women say they would be influenced by the knowledge that the business is recognised as 'women friendly'.
